The  6231BP10830 I/O block is a current source I/O block that comes with 2 outputs and 4 inputs. It can connect to external devices that operate on a current level from 4 to 20 milliamps. All 6 of the I/O circuits on the 6231BP10830 I/O block are provided with isolated power, and the block does not need to use a separate power source for any signals in the range of 4 to 20 milliamps. It can check for underrange and overrrange situations in its inputs and outputs and also run diagnostics for other potential problems such as output feedback errors. Additionally, all of the input and output circuits in the 6231BP10830 block support linear scaling values that can be configured individually at different levels for each circuit. All of these linear scaling values can convert the internal scaling values into engineering units that the application that the block is being deployed in can use.

The  6231BP10830 current source I/O block is compatible with a variety of  devices including the PCIM modules, the QBIM modules, and all of the Genius bus controllers. The isolation ratings on the 6231BP10830 I/O block are 1500 Volts for 1 minute of block to block isolation and 300 Volts RMS for group to group isolation. It can tolerate 5 to 95% relative humidity in its storage and operating environments as long as the humidity does not condense. The operating temperature range for the 6231BP10830 I/O block is 32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit and the storage temperature range is -40 to 212 degrees Fahrenheit.
