The Power Supply module contains 5V and +/- 18V power supplies.The +/-18V arepost-regulated to the voltages required by each module.
When the Power Supply module powers up, it executes a "soft start," gradually increasing theoutput voltage until it reaches the voltage necessary for logic operations.The 5V and +/-18Vsupplies are monitored by the PMI Processor via the backplane.When the backplane voltages areabove specified levels (4.75V and +/-15.5V, respectively), the PMl Processor will turn on the “PWROK" LED on the faceplate of the Power Supply module.
lf the A-C line is lost for more than 25 milliseconds, the 5V line will begin to drop. When it falls below4.75V, the PMl Processor generates a signal to shut down the rack and turns off the “PWR OK" LEDon the Power Supply module.The PMl Processor module's power supply monitor circuit is
described in detail in section 4.2.2 of this manual.
Internal current-limiting circuitry prevents a short circuit on either output from damaging the supply.The input fuse is not user-serviceable. lif the fuse blows, it indicates a problem with the Power
Supply module and the module should be replaced.See figure 3.2 for a typical input power signal.The Power Supply module contains a solid-state airflow switch to monitor the airilow through therack.Bit 12 of UDC register 203/1203 will be set if airflow is not being sensed.
