The 1336-GM5 drive is best utilized with a circuit that can emit up to 200,000 RMS symmetrical Amps, 600 Volts optimum when used with the proper AC input line fuses as specified by the manufacturer.
The drive is supposed to be used on the three-phase supply systems that have symmetrically designed line voltages. There are surge suppression devices which are ideal for protecting the drive from the lightning-induced overvoltage between the ground and line. The 1336-GM5 drive comes with a Metal Oxide Varistor that ensures the surge protection and phase-to-ground and phase-phase protection that is made to meet the IEEE 587 regulations.
The MOV circuit in the 1336-GM5 is designed for transient line protection, but not for continuous operation. It is not advisable that the published line-to-ground and line-to-line energy voltage ratings be surpassed because that might cause critical physical damage to the system.
The drive works best when directly connected to the AC line with the correct voltage which has the minimum impedance of 1% relative to the drive input KVA. If the impedance is significantly low, interruptions can create too many spikes that which cause overvoltage faults, that can damage the drive.
With the 1336-GM5, the stop/start regulation circuitry includes solid-state components. In case of danger due to accidental contacts with the machinery by solid debris or fluids, then there will be a need for additional hardwire circuits to remove the AC line power to the drive. This drive must be regulated by control input signals that would stop and start the engine.
