The input voltage range for the module is 12 to 24 Volts DC. 

The current draw for the 1756-IB16IF at 5 Volts DC is 275 mA and it is 3 mA at 24 Volts DC. The 1756-IB16IF has 16 individually isolated inputs which are high-speed. The 1756-IB16IF can be installed with a 1756-TBCH or 1756-TBS6H removable terminal block module. The module is also used to detect latching or short duration pulses.

The module can detect input pulses which are 10 microseconds short when the frequency is 4 kHZ within a period of 250 microseconds. The power dissipation of the module is 3.8 Watts and the thermal dissipation is 12.97 BTU/hOUr. The module also supports tags which convey the information. Various tags available include the configuration tag which conveys the structure of the event data from the controller to the I/O module when the system is turned ON. 

The event tag is used to convey the information of the I/O module to the controller about the current operational status and the input tags means the structure of the data which is sent from the I/O module to the controller containing the current operational status. The 1756-IB16IF has an open enclosure and it is installed with the RSLogix 5000 software with version 8.0.2.00 or later. The operating voltage range for the module is 10 to 30 Volts DC. 

It is a high-speed peer control digital module with 16 individually isolated inputs. The removable terminal block housing, or RTB, required when installing the 1756-IB16IF to the chassis can either be the 1756-TBCH or 1756-TBS6H.

The 1756-IB16IF is one of the modules that use CIP sync for both scheduling and timestamps. Modules such as this are known as slave-only devices because they need another module on the same network that will act as the master clock. The CIP sync is used system-wide, which means that the timestamps and schedule values are consistent across all the modules in the system.

This module can also be used for detecting or latching short duration pulses. Incoming pulses with durations as short as 10 µs can be detected by the 1756-IB16IF module—this is assuming the frequency is 4kHz within a period of 250 µs.

Initiating event tasks over dedicated second connections in response to four user-defined input patterns can also be done by this module, with every pattern using any of the 16 points available.
