The 1771-SN PLC 5 Sub I/O Scanner Module by is an electronic device which is used to expand the number of a sub I/O system by up to 896 digital remote I/O and it can conveniently interface with a maximum of 16 Remote I/O adapters on a universal remote I/O link. The module is installed on a single I/O slot of the 1771 I/O chassis and is connected to the remote I/O adapter using the 1771-CD connector cable.
The 1771-SN module has a data transmission rate of 57.6 KB per second over a 10,000 cable-feet distance and 115.2 KB per second over a cable distance of 5,000 cable-feet. The module draws 1.2A current from the backplane’s power supply and dissipates 7W heat at 1.2A, and 24 BTU per hour maximum thermal dissipation also at 1.2A when operational.
The 1771-SN module has LED indicators for indicating the module’s status and it can connect to a maximum of 16 Remote I/O Chassis via the Daisy-Chain cable configuration using the 6-pin Phoenix Connector. The module supports PLC-2 Rack addresses 1 through 7 and it supports up to 16 I/O adapters, but it does not support complementary I/O.
The 1771-SN is keyed to the backplane by attaching the connecting bands between pins 2 and 4, 24 and 26 of the backplane top connector. The 1771-SN has a working temperature range between 0° and 60°C (32° and 140°F) around an ambient 5-95% relative humidity without condensation, and the module is stored at a temperature range between –40° and 85°C (–40° and 185°F).
