The 1785-L40B is an PLC5 Controller. This controller has 48K words of user memory, supports 2048 (any mix) or 2048 in + 2048 out (complementary). It has embedded communication ports such as Four (4) DH+/Remote I/O (Adapter or Scanner) One (1) serial port, configurable for RS-232 and 423 and RS-422A standards.

The 1785-L40B Series E modules are standard processor modules. They are programmable and they are important parts of industrial machine control systems. They can communicate with hundreds of devices because they can accommodate up to 2048 analog I/O. The memory of the 1785-L40B Series E modules can store up to 48K words of memory. This memory is not protected, but the modules also have backed up EEPROM programming units and battery-backed static RAM. They have PLC 5/40 processors.

The 1785-L40B Series E modules can communicate with other machines through their ports. These communication ports include 4 DH+/Remote I/O ports that can be used as adapter ports or scanner ports and 1 serial port that is configurable for RS-232 and 423 and RS-422A communication. These modules use the DH+ network for communication and remote control and programming.

The 1785-L40B Series E modules are compatible with all PLC-5 modules. In the programming mode, these modules can be used to create, edit, or delete files, including data files, ladder files, and SFC files. Files can be uploaded and downloaded with the memory modules The 1785-L40B Series E modules have backplane current loads of 3.3 Amps at 5 Volts and they cannot be connected to extended I/O chassis. However, these standard processor modules can be connected to up to 61 regular I/O chassis and up to 32 max/link chassis. The Remote I/O connection that the 1785-L40B Series E modules have allow them to have real-time data exchanges with different third party devices.
