The IC697CPU788 module is a CPU module which is specially designed for systems requiring Triple Module Redudancy (TMR). The IC697CPU788 module is based on a 80386DX processor clocked at 16 megahertz.

The IC697CPU788 module is a CPU module that is made for Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR) systems. The IC697CPU788 module is a single-slot CPU which is configured by Windows or DOS based programming software for use in ESD (emergency shut-down), fire and gas, and other critical control applications. The IC697CPU788 module needs to be used together with a group of program blocks that enable TMR routines.

The CPU module will not function until these program blocks are included in the loaded program. The data and program memory is made available through the attachment of an expansion memory board with up to 512 KB of CMOS RAM that is backed up by a lithium battery. The operation of the IC697CPU788 module is controlled remotely through software or a 3-position RUN/STOP switch.

When the switch is in protected position, the IC697CPU788 CPU configuration can only be changed with a programmer that is connected to the parallel port. The current requirement of the module, including the expansion memory board, is 1.6 Amps. The module is compatible with 5 Volts DC input voltage. The shelf life of the lithium battery is 10 years at 20 degrees Celsius and the battery provides 6 months of nominal memory retention. Up to 352 discrete inputs and outputs and 8000 analog inputs in the simplex mode and 8000 analog outputs in the simplex mode are supported.
