The IC698CRE030 CPU is a Pentium-M redundancy CPU that is rated at 600 megahertz. It is manufactured by GE Fanuc in the GE RX7i PACSystem series of programmable logic controller components.
The IC698CRE030 CPU can be installed in a VME64 backplane in an RX7i PLC. This device has a built-in Ethernet port that is rated at 10 or 100 mb of communication speed and that consists of dual ports that are both RJ-45 ports.
This Etherent port has an auto-sensing switch and it can be used for online monitoring and for uploading and downloading data. The Ethernet interface on the IC698CRE030 CPU allows the users to monitor the PLC from a web browser and it does not need hubs or rack switches in order to operate properly. The IC698CRE030 redundancy CPU features 64 MB of user memory.
In addition to the dual RJ-45 Ethernet port, the GE Fanuc IC698CRE030 Pentium-M redundancy CPU also has another Ethernet port which is an RS-232 serial port used for station management and 2 other serial ports that are used for RS-232 communication and RS-485 communication.
All 3 of these serial ports are isolated. The RS-232 communication port has an indicator LED for the status of the port’s activity and its connector type is a female 9-pin D-sub connector.
This port is also known as a DCE or a Data Communications Equipment port that only requires a straight-through cable to make connections. The RS-485 communication port on the IC698CRE030 CPU is also a DCE port, but it needs shielded cables for its connections. The station manager port uses straight-through cable for RS-232 connections just like the ordinary RS-232 cable.
