The IC693CBL316 USB Serial Cable to RJ-11 connector cable can be used in a variety of applications. It is suited for connecting the Rs-232 port of DSM to PC, is protocol dependent, and can only be used for “serial comms.” Another name for this cable is “Station Manager Cable.”

It is one of the cables that can be used for data collection or programming in communicating with a GEIC PLC/PAC. Because it is an RS-232 cable, it works for RX3i CPE 305 programming port and is also the “Station Manager Cable” for the Ethernet ETM001.

This cable is shielded, 3-feet long (1meter), with a 6-pin RJ-11 connector on one end and a 9-pin D-shell connector on the other. Six pins of the RJ-11 connector connects to five pins of the 9-pin D-shell connector, with the 5th pin on the latter (i.e. 9-pin D-shell) connecting to both the 3rd (green) and 4th (brown) pins of the former (the RJ-11).

While one end of the IC693CBL316 cable connects to a USB port on a personal computer, the other end (RJ-11) connects to various interfaces as in the following examples and applications. By connecting to the RJ-11 faceplate serial port on CPUs 351, 352, and 363, the IC693CBL316 can be used for monitoring, configuring, firmware updating and programming purposes.

On an IC693DSM302 module, the cable connects to the RJ-11 COMM port of the module and can be used for loading motion programs and firmware. The same applies also to the IC693DSM314 module where motion programs for the module can be loaded across the PLC backplane. It can connect to the Station Manager port on an IC693CMM321 Ethernet module or on an IC693CPU364 CPU module, which has a built-in Ethernet interface.
