The IC694BEM340 controller is an RX3i controller by GE Fanuc. It has open architecture. The controller supports I/O and datagrams. The controller is fully compatible with the PAC system and serial bus. It runs with 5 Volts DC and 300 milliamps of current.
The controller is able to interface with different genius blocks, Versa Max systems, field control stations, and hand held monitors made by GE. The bus controller offers faster communication with the serial bus by using datagrams. At a given time, the controller can transfer up to 128 bytes of data using the I/O bus.
The bus connected to the controller is able to report different system events including faults and alarms. The IC694BEM340 controller can automatically save these reports for future reference. A normal RX3i PAC system is able to accommodate 8 bus controllers.
On the front section of the IC694BEM340 controller, 2 LEDs are present and they should always be on during operation. The "OK" LED shows the status of the controller. This LED turns on when the initial diagnostics are completed. The "COM" LED indicates the communication bus status. When turned on, it indicates that the bus is operating properly. The IC694BEM340 controller features advanced diagnostics.
The diagnostics run throughout the operation process and they can easily detect faults or unwanted events. The controller uses a chained cable or a twisted cable for connection. The controller is equipped with resistors at 2 ends for bus termination. It supports different baud rates of 38.4, 76.8, and 153.6 K baud for different lengths. During the installation, the IC694BEM340 controller should not be exposed to sources of EMC radiation and noise.
